Blank Page or Blank Tab After Selecting a Link

We have begun to hear more from users about seeing a "blank page or blank tab" after selecting links on websites. Many of the reasons for this is due to the behavior of the selected web-browser being used. With the increased options for selecting a browser to 'surf the web' such as changing from Internet Explore (IE) to FireFox, Safari, Chrome, etc- users will experience different subtleties in the way information is downloaded and/or opened. The BLANK PAGE or BLANK TAB is such an example.
IE typically just opens the selected web-link and displays without prompting the user for additional steps. Most of the newer to market browsers (named above) often require the user to take an extra step before displaying the selected information as a safety measure (Open with specific program or in certain view, Download first, etc). The result of this additional step is the common reason (other than bad or altered link- see Common Web Page Errors Posting) for users seeing a blank page and is not the result of a bad or disabled link. Once the user selects the appropriate action for the browser to complete, the information contained within the web-link to displayed.
